 We recommend taking a look at the dimensions below, remembering your girls are only going to be in the hen house to roost at night and lay their eggs. It’s also good to remember the chickens share nesting boxes and stand side by side on the roosting rods. This chicken coop for 6 hens does not include a Run in case you want to expand your setup or in case you already have a run extension.

Given that your chicken coop kit for 6 chickens will be exposed to the elements around the clock, we highly recommend staining, lacquering, or painting it. The initial stain serves as a base coat and does not provide long-term protection from the weather. During transit, parts might get dinged or scratched, so you might need to touch up the coop before applying stain or paint. After setting it up, we suggest anchoring it down, which can be as simple as placing a stake on each side of the hen house and run area.

• Each roof panel has a heavy plastic liner to insulate and further weatherproof
• We use strong wire mesh with small holes to keep predators out

Final Suggestions:

Since they are made of wood and will be outside 24/7, we STRONGLY recommend that you stain, lacquer or paint your coop. As much as we have tried to predator-proof our chicken coop kits for 6 chickens, you know your area best and you may want to put wire chicken wire or preferably hardware cloth around your coop, or put pavers. You'll always want to double-check hardware and latches to make sure everything is tight and secure. For larger predators like bears you will want to look at installing an electric fence around the perimeter.
