Alive & Healthy Guarantee
The health and well-being of our poultry is our top priority. The Chicken Coop Company guarantees that your poultry will arrive alive and healthy, or we will make it right. Please read below to learn about our Alive & Healthy Guarantee.
We guarantee that you will receive a full count of live healthy poultry within 1-3 days through Priority Live Shipping with the USPS. We often place extra chicks of same/like breed and gender you ordered in each box to help fulfill this guarantee. However, if losses should occur in shipment and you do receive fewer live birds than you ordered, we will make an adjustment by refunding poultry, not including shipping and handling.
You must use a heat source that can maintain a temperature of at least 100 -105 degrees for the first 48 hours in the warm area of your brooder and have a cool area for the chicks to get away from the heat when needed. We do not recommend using puppy pads. See “care of chicks on arrival” packet included with your order. The Chicken Coop Company does not guarantee mortalities or morbidities after the safe and timely delivery day of arrival. At no time will we refund for the non-refundable 15.00 USPS surcharge.
For losses of day-old chicks, ducklings and goslings:
You must pick up your birds the same day as they arrive and notify us within 48 hours of receipt that your birds have not survived in order to qualify for compensation as outlined below.

If half or more survive, we will refund you the cost of the bird(s) only. Alternately, you may choose free bird(s) of equal or lesser value on a future order. If you opt for the latter, you will be responsible for the cost of shipping, as well as enough additional birds to meet the minimum.

If fewer than half survive, the same policy applies as above, except we will also refund you pro-rated shipping, or you may opt for a free replacement order, provided the same breeds/varieties are available for shipping.
In no instance will your refund exceed your order total. The Chicken Coop Company reserves the right to require verification of losses, and to refuse to ship birds to any location to which we have determined that they cannot be safely delivered.
For sexing errors:
We will refund you for any bird which has been incorrectly sexed, provided you notify us within the following time frames:
- Any breed except Silkies: notify us between 14 to 22 weeks of the original shipment date.

Silkies and Silked White Easter Eggers: notify us between 19 and 30 weeks of the original shipment date.
For other issues:
We will refund you these other types of issues, provided you notify us within the following time frames:
- Bird missing from your order, wry neck, curled toes, or spraddle leg: notify us within 48 hours of receipt.
- Incorrect breed or later-appearing deformities: notify us within 22 weeks of the original shipment date.
- Cross beak: notify us within 14 days of receipt. Additional time may be allowed on Easter Egger breeds only (up to 6 weeks from arrival.)
The Chicken Coop Company reserves the right to require photographic evidence of sexing and other errors.
To support our customers' changing needs, we're pleased to offer one free cancellation per calendar year on any live bird order prior to 11 days before the order ships. This policy is designed to give you more flexibility and peace of mind when shopping with us. After your annual free cancelation, we reserve the right to charge a non-refundable $20.00 fee on any canceled orders. This fee helps us recoup a portion of payment processing fees and customer service time.
